“No special lassie for me. This time I’ll wait for my soul mate.”
Soul mate? What a curious statement. “This time?” Michaela asked. “Has some woman spurned your good intentions before?”
His chuckle rumbled deep in his chest, but humor didn’t light his eyes. “No, but some relationships arenae meant to be.”

There’s more to Alan than meets the eye, enjoyable snippet as always Karen!
Gemma,
Yep, there is. 🙂 So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Nice answer Alan. I love that he’s looking for a soul mate : )
Millie,
Alan is one of the good ones.
I adore the use of regional flavor in your dialogue, I can just HEAR Alan in my head.
Chelle,
I’m thrilled you do. Alan is an old soul and I’m glad you picked up on it. 🙂
You’ve given us a peek into his damaged heart. Well told, Karen.
Charmaine,
Yes, but he hasn’t given up hope. 🙂
A conversation even more poignant than she realizes. Can’t wait for more, love this story! Great snippet…
Veronica,
Thanks you so much. I’m glad you love the story. 🙂
Sounds like he’s been hurt before. I also love his use of the word soul mates. Definitely intrigued by all of this.
Sarah,
So glad you’re intrigued. It is my evil plan to hook you. lol
This makes me very curious about his past relationships…
P.T.,
Curiouser and Curiouser… yep, I did my job. lol Thanks so much for stopping by.
So difficult to find the right girl, under poor Alan’s circumstances. 🙂
Sarah W,
He just might find her yet… 🙂
I loved Alan’s answer. And yes, I’ve been in relationships that weren’t meant to be. The most notable was my ex-wife – that sure wasn’t meant to be! Great snippet and I look forward to more.
Frank,
I’m glad you liked Alan’s response. 🙂
As for the relationship never meant to be… We’ve all been there. 🙂 But they make us what we are today.
Like Michaela, my first question was “This time?” Sounds like Alan has some interesting back story.
Sandra,
Alan does have stories. 🙂
Alan is so mysterious! (With good reason.) Love the snippet. 🙂
Delynn,
So glad to see you’re back! Stopped by for your sneak peek. Sounds fantastic!
Everyone’s loving Alan, and I’m curious about him too.
Elaine,
He’s easy to like and not too bad on the eyes. lol
She should understand that.
Your dialogue is so fluid, Karen. And I am so in love with the brogue in this book! 🙂
Sometimes a person could be your soulmate, but you weren’t together at the right time in your lives to last forever. I thought my ex-“fiancé” was my destined one, but he just wouldn’t change and work on even a fraction of all his debilitating issues or establish normal, healthy boundaries with his family.
Soul mate, that’s romantic.
