Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new ‘rock star romance’ that I’m working on. It’s in the very early stages.
Last week Maverick was daydreaming about Rowan’s kissable lips.
Maverick’s POV. Rowan is speaking first.
***
“Drinks to warm the heart and music to soothe the soul,” she said, drawing his attention back to the present.
His lips curved. “Something like that. How about I get us both a warm up and I’ll go over the details of the upcoming event and what your job will entail.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
They took the morning going over details of Merry Mayhem, a Christmas music festival he held yearly. He already had a few bands booked for the day and few ideas on how he’d like to run things this year and Rowan had a few great suggestions he wanted to implement.
“I’m assuming the local bands should have first go for the time slots available?” she asked him as she paused in taking her notes to glance at him.
“They still have to try out for a slot. People are paying to see the event.”

Love to hear your feed back. π
About Heart and Soul…
80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn’t be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?
Sounds like his focus needs focus. Great snippet, Karen. π
Siobhan,
He does need to focus on work that is. lol
Oh, who will be the judge when they try out? Great snippet!
Jessica,
Most likely Rowan.
Hmm, the last line sounded sort of impatient or snippy–but it’s hard to tell from the context size. π
Teresa,
It wasn’t meant to be. π
Beautiful scene and so interesting. Best to you always.
Charmaine,
Thank you.
Beautiful scene so well-written. Best always. Charmaine
Love the chemistry between these two. Well done!

Thank you. So glad you’re enjoying the snippets.
I never really thought about how such events are organized so that was an interesting glimpse! Enjoyed the snippet …
Veronica,
So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
A very practical conversation – it shows they make good partners.
Aurora,
Yes, they do.
I’m liking the progress our two characters are making with each other. Nice and slow (for now).
Sue,
Yes, nice and slow but not for long.
I enjoyed this insight into their work together. It helps to put their relationship into context.
Ed,
So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Sounds like they work well together. Thatβs a good sign!
Christina,
It does seem that way. π
Interesting conversation, but I don’t think he was fully concentrating on the matter in hand! π
Hywela,
It might be difficult.
What a great tagline !
Iris,
Glad you liked it. π
I’m glad they have to try out. I’ve heard some local bands that were pretty awful.
P.T.,
Yes, they can be awful but then there have been others that were fantastic and I was glad they were able to get a slot to be onstage.
I like how natural their dialogue is. They’ve got good chemistry.
Carrie-Anne,
They do have great chemistry.
He’s got ‘tough but fair’ down. I’m sure he’ll listen to her input, if she has usable ideas.
Caitlin,
Yes, he does. And he will listen to her ideas as well.
I’d love to read more!
Jessica,
I’m sure there may be a few snags along the way. π
Amy,
So glad you do.
It’s good that he favors good music over locality. Way to look professional!
Linda,
Glad you enjoyed the snippet.
