About the snippet: This is in Rowan’s POV. Though Rowan realizes places and scenery could have changed over the years, she drives her car down the main part of town just to see if something will pop out as familiar from her dreams.

She turned off a road where the pines and brush had grown with wild abandonment without corporations clearing it away for housing or whatever else their imaginations could conjure up for zoning.
She slowed her vehicle when she came to a sign partially hidden behind a bush that was doing its best to consume it. She parked on the shoulder of the road and stepped out of her car to have a closer look. The sign appeared hand painted and worn from the elements, but she could make out that it was pointing toward the right to what was supposed to be the road to Lake Moor. The potholed path overgrown with foliage indicated no one had traveled this way in a while. Maybe the lake had dried up and had been forgotten. There was only one way to find out. She slipped her hand into her jean pocket to retrieve her cell phone and glance at the time. She roughly had two hours before she had to head back to the coffeehouse to start work. She hurried to her car, slid inside.
