The pixie appeared dazed. Her face tilted up, her mouth parted in anticipation as if she still sought his lips, but then in a blink of an eye, her expression turned murderous. He knew that look, had seen it enough times when he hauled in hardened outlaws. His life at this moment was uncertain, but all he could think about was kissing her again. He took a step to do so, but her words cut through him as if she wielded a knife in those delicate hands.
“Was that all you got, lover?” Her gaze traveled over him with brazen regard. “I think you still owe me.” Her gaze shifted to Lulu who covered her mouth to suppress a giggle.
