Rowan reached for Spike’s arm to halt him and he turned to look at her. “What made you ask that question?” She drew in a quivering breath and added, “Why would you think Haley Rose’s ghost would haunt this place?”
Maverick came to stand by Rowan and wondered why she seemed out of sorts with the ghost story.
Spike stared at her curiously but answered her. “Her father owned this place,” he stated. “I thought everyone knew that.”
Rowan shook her head and frowned. “I-I didn’t.”

About Heart and Soul…
80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31, 1988, and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year-old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn’t be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have come back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?
Vanished? As in decided to go on a road trip and never come back or more as in Bermuda triangle out of the map vanished?

The backstory is that no one knows what happened to them. No bodies were ever recovered.
Vanished? I’m curious as to what that means, too.

Very strange. Also strange that Rowan didn’t know who owned the place.
It is strange. There is very little information about Haley Rose other than she was a up and coming rock star and that she disappeared without a trace.
Curiouser and curiouser! Vanished . . . perhaps on purpose? Or by violent means?

Woah! I love the set-up to the mystery of the ghost’s death. I’ve seen so many movies that I’m starting to suspect Haley’s father. “…quivering breath””—I really felt that!

Oohhhh, spooky – I LOVE it. I’m also happy to see the narrative come back to the Haley Rose mystery again, although I’ve been enjoying all the snippets, painting the picture of the place and the people. Terrific excerpt today…
