Twirl and Dip (WIP) Drake’s POV
He asked about Eastyn when he phoned home, but his dad didn’t have too much to say, other than her soda shop was a hit with the locals and the tourist alike. It wasn’t what he wanted to know. He had a hunch his father knew that, too. He should have manned up and just asked the question, but he’d been a coward. If Eastyn was seeing someone, it would prove more than he could take.
Eastyn was one of the good ones, so of course, another guy would see it, too. He’d been the fool, screwing up that relationship.
Finally, after the last song of their set, and three more encore songs, he was able to head back to his dressing room. He changed out his sweaty clothes and into blue jeans and an AC/DC T-shirt and he donned a baseball cap and dark-rimmed glasses. He grabbed his guitar and the glass jar of sugar cones, then stood back to see if he missed anything.

Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. Yes, he should have thought about it soon, but you’re right life can put a stop to things you hoped to accomplish.
It seems to me that his regard for Eastyn is of the idealized variety. She’s one of the good ones, yet he can’t be bothered to be with her or call her, yet he wishes her well. I think he has some work to do when they finally do get back together.
BTW, I’m almost halfway through Heart and Soul. So far, excellent!

I love the premise of this. Do we find out WHY the jukebox is haunted?
It sounds like the feelings are there but is he ready to be there for her? It seems like dad is holding back, but then again it may spur him to actually talk to her.
