Twirl and Dip (WIP)
“Hold on.” He placed his fork down on the plate. “I highly doubt my manager can track my credit card purchases. I’m not running from the law. Just taking a break.” He chuckled but then sobered when he caught Maverick and Rowan exchanging glances.
“What?”
“Your manager called this morning asking for you since you wouldn’t pick up your phone.”
“What the—”
“Did you use your credit card?” Maverick stressed the last two words with meaning, “or the credit card that your manager arranged for you to use while you toured?”
A little extra after the 10 sentences.
“My manager arranged something of the sort for the Roadside Reapers, to keep track of what we spent on our tours. Made it easier to keep the spending at a reasonable level and it helped to weed through what could be used for write-offs when taxes came about. We agreed to this in our contract with the label, so I’m assuming maybe you made a similar arrangement.”
He ran his fingers through his hair and cursed. “Yeah, we did. I didn’t even think about it when I used the one I have in my wallet.” He let out a tired sigh. He hadn’t thought his manager would try to track him down in that manner either.
“Listen,” Rowan said, “your manager was just worried about you. You disappeared and you aren’t answering your phone. You could have been kidnapped for all he knew.”
“I texted one of my bandmates this morning.” As if this made it better.
Possible Blurb:
Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. If things couldn’t get any more complicated, Drake, her ex-fiancé, returns home after five years on the road with his rock band, Never Mind the Damage.
Eastyn vows not to fall for Drake’s charms again, but when you have a lifetime of memories with the man, the heart seems not to care about pledges. Her haunted jukebox believes choosing the right song to twirl and dip to is the answer to everything. However, Eastyn isn’t convinced. She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?

Two Worlds Collided is one of my favorite tales about time travel, romance, and second chances. You can revisit the story at Audible, or if you haven’t read it yet, experience the adventure for the first time as the narrator opens the door to a new world. That’s right. You heard it hear first. Two Worlds Collided is available in an audiobook format narrated by the talented Sharmila Devar.
Are you excited yet? Yes, you say. Me, too. ♥
Sometimes we’re so eager to “escape” we forget the ramifications of it all. Nice snippet.
Iris,
So very true.
Okay – he was a little thoughtless.
Aurora,
Not intentionally.
I can totally understand his frustration, thinking he made a clean break and then making a silly mistake. Great snippet!
Julie,
So true, but then he can’t hide away forever.
The realities of modern life and how easy it is to track people down…interesting snippet! Enjoying the story…
Veronica,
It is a bit scary, isn’t it?
A text can easily be faked. He’d better get on the phone and call off his manager if he doesn’t want the cops swarming in on him!
Alexis,
Didn’t think about that. Maybe a little face time is in order.
He should know how easily someone can track you these days. Doesn’t he watch NCIS? LOL It’s scary, really. Still, he should call his manager and let him know what’s going on. That’s what he pays the man to do, manage him. Great snippet!
Jenna,
Yes, really scary how people can know your every move.
Uh oh. He needs to get rid of the credit card. Can prolly track him through his phone, too. It would be weird, though, dumping all the technology. Interesting!
Have a happy thanksgiving!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, too.
Sounds like Drake can’t hide from reality forever. I’m curious whether he’ll see Eastyn or call his manager first.
Jessica,
No, he can’t hide forever.
He hasn’t read enough mysteries — modern ones, that is, not Sherlock and Watson. Authors could’ve set him straight on this little fact, right
Ed,
I guess he’s been too busy to read. lol
One mistake and you’re found whether you want to be or not.
So, true.
Although he didn’t want to be found, it’s still nice that he has so many people concerned about him.
E.D.,
This is true.
Yeah, when you disappear like that, people tend to worry. And given how much of a star he seems to be, his manager was right. Some stalker could have done something untoward.
