Blurb:
Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.
Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.
Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.
The scene: This takes place a few paragraphs from last week’s snippet #6. The Druid has arrived wanting to know who was responsible for releasing the water spirits. Gordana clutches her little boy as Samuel drags her toward Druid Daly.
**************************************************************************************
His arms wrapped around his mother’s neck like a vise, and fear radiated in the depths of his blue eyes. The people parted, clearing a path to where Druid Daly waited to judge the accused. Samuel thrust Gordana forward.
Druid Daly stood taller than most with long lean legs and arms. His hair fluttered over his shoulders in waves of white. Though he must be ancient, his face remained smooth from lines of age, but the depths of his eyes laid proof he was no innocent laddie.“What say ye?” Druid Daly demanded, his voice boomed, bringing silence to the woods.
Gordana lowered her head in shame.
***************************************************************************************
It does not bode well for Gordana. Come by next week to hear her side of the story.

Carrie-Anne,
No, it isn’t. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I will absolutely be back next week. I’m glad that Druid Daly is giving her a chance to say something in her own defense rather than condemning her outright. Feel awful for her and her little boy.

You are the first writer whom I have ever read that has used the word, “laddie.” Such charm! What a cool story premise, Karen!!
Carrie,
Thanks so much! Re: ‘laddie’ so glad you liked the reference. 🙂
I wanna know what kind of skin care routine the druid uses to keep his face line free. LOL Poor Morganna. Doesn’t look so good.
Claire,
Skin care–lol. Wouldn’t we all like a touch of the ‘god-like’ skin cream. 🙂
I’ll be back next week.
Sue,
See you then. 🙂
How did he miss out on the “lines of age?”
I need some of that!
Chip,
The gods may cheat a little. 🙂
Fabulous snippet, Karen. Tension and sympathy all wrapped up together.
