Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. They’ve arrived in front of Castle Urquhart where most of the sightings of the Loch Ness Monster have been. Alan goes on to describe the ancient castle in loving detail. Michaela learns the laddies believe “Nessie” exists… surprise, surprise. lol

Now for the snippet: (Alan’s POV) (Michaela is speaking first.)
She looked toward the castle again. “I’ll have to take a tour of Castle Urquhart, while I’m here.”
“Oh aye,” Hyatt agreed. “Ye doonae want to miss its grandness.”
“I’m takin’ the boat out this way tomorrow.” Alan heard himself say.
Both Michaela and Hyatt’s gaze riveted to him. This should have been a big clue to keep his mouth shut, but it seemed his tongue had a mind of its own. “I could give ye a lift.”

Your writing is wonderful, Karen! I adore the dialect–it helps in my visual too, if that makes any sense. 🙂 “Ye doonae want to miss its grandness.” Perfect!
Teresa,
So glad you like the dialect. 🙂
He just can’t help himself. This makes me happy. 🙂
I’m all about making you smile. lol
Great snippet. He couldn’t resist making the offer. I love the accent in the dialogue
So, glad you’re liking the accent. 🙂
I missed the last couple of excerpt from this story and this one has me intrigued all over again. Alan, oh dear, what’s he getting himself into? Nice excerpt.
Owllady,
Glad you’re intrigued… again. lol
And I’m guessing that Hyatt isn’t invited tomorrow? LOL
P.T.,
Is Hyatt invite? Nope. lol
That made me laugh so much. Who was so reluctant to take her on the lake at first? hahaha 🙂
Linda,
So glad you got a kick out of this. 🙂
Yeah, I’m enjoying this story and Alan being so… I don’t know.. unable to control himself and totally not knowing what he wants.
Linda,
Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
This flows so naturally and I am really enjoying it!

I love Alan. ~sigh~
I finished reading Magic of the Loch a few days ago and enjoyed it immensely. If y’all haven’t picked up a copy–do it!!!
Karysa,
I so thrilled you liked Magic of the Loch! Thanks so much for telling me. Can you see me grinning? 🙂
He DOES have it bad and we love it LOL. Normally I shy away from books with dialect but yours is just so lilting and so perfect for the story, I’m very much enjoying it. Excellent excerpt!
Veronica,
So glad you’re enjoying the dialect. I try not to overdue it. Just a wee bit to flavor the tale. 🙂
Oh, his treacherous tongue.
Sue,
Isn’t that so true. lol
Oh my, he does have it bad! Wonder if she’ll say yes!
Sarah,
Yep, he does have it bad. lol
I so like the dialect in your writing. And “his tongue has a mind of its own” is a good way of putting it when somebody is too impulsive, speaks before thinking of the consequences. Really like this.
Rayne,
I’m so glad you hear you like the dialect. 🙂 Yes, his tongue does have a mind of its own. Seems to know what Alan wants even if he’s not willing to admit it yet.
This scene made me laugh. Interesting characters, and nice incorporation of the dialect. Fund 8!
Frank,
So glad you enjoyed the snippet. 🙂
Big tough guy that he is, Alan can’t quite keep his interest in Michaela buttoned up here, can he? 🙂 Cute peek.
Delynn,
No, he can’t. 🙂
Dialect is spot on! As well as Alan’s offer and the others reaction to it, giving us a glimpse to what his heart is feeling. Great 8!
I so glad the dialect works for you! Yep, Alan’s heart know what it wants. 🙂
He’s certainly not holding back his intentions! Alan has had a quick turnaround in how he felt about Michaela.
Carrie,
He knows what he wants, doesn’t he? lol
Hee hee hee…yeah, he just happens to be headed that way : )
Millie,
lol–:)
Funny! It’s tough being a third wheel.
Willa,
It is tough, but you’ll soon see Hyatt is okay with it. 🙂
