Michaela has challenged Alan to a game of darts. If Michaela’s score tops Alan’s, will he be a sore loser?

Set up: Alan throws the dart and it hits just inside the ridge of the bull’s eye. He glances at Michaela with a smug smile.

***Note: Snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. A few sentences were skipped and others combined. 🙂

“Do ye always stick out yer tongue when ye’re concentratin’?” His mouth curved and he pointed to her mouth. “Yer wee tongue, it slips out when ye focus.”

“Does not,” she said as she glanced at Hyatt to back her up.

“Afraid it does, lassie,” Hyatt said with a sighed.

Michaela pursed her lips together and turned with a swift movement, letting the dart fly.

“Dead center,” Hyatt cried out with a laugh and picked Michaela up and swung her around.

“Put the young lassie down before ye break her,” Alan reprimanded, but he wore a grin himself as he bowed to her.

Alan seemed pleased she did so well. Don’t you agree?

  1. This is the point in the book where I said, “Okay, if she doesn’t want Alan, I’ll take him. I’m sure my husband won’t mind.”

    Such a great book!
