“You’re drooling, Tye.”
“Shut your pie hole, Sonny,” he muttered.
“Sure am glad you’re back,” Mike said with a laugh. “The sparks will fly around this town now. Been too damn quiet, if you ask me.”
Jolie hadn’t seen him yet. She weaved around the crowd and headed toward the bar where a tall woman, with two-toned hair, stood waving her over.
“It’s now or never,” Mike sang in his low baritone. “Will Tye make his—”
He threw Mike a dagger-like look and the big man’s voice choked into a laugh.

Eight Seconds to Lose the Girl…
One chance to win her back.
Tye Casper, a.k.a. the Ghost Rider and champion bull rider, should be the happiest cowboy alive, but when he left home ten years ago to make it big, he said goodbye to the only woman he has ever loved. He’s had his eight seconds of glory, but without Jolie Lockhart by his side, the wins mean nothing.
He’s been given an opportunity to return home to Skeeter Blue for one last rodeo. He believes fate has sent him there and he’ll have a second chance with Jolie, but nothing goes as planned. He soon realizes staying seated on a bull for eight seconds may prove much simpler than winning Jolie’s heart.

Having an audience like this has got to make the reunion a lot harder for both him and her — nice way to build tension while providing back story and building the setting.

What are friends for? lol
Ha! Fun snippet– extra points for use of, “pie hole”, and double extra points for an Elvis reference. Very nice.
Jeff,
So glad you got a kick out of those two references. 🙂
I’m not sure she will be as friendly has the boys. I wonder if he is going to run away again.
Thanks for the ear worm.
On a more serious note (pun intended) I love the banter between them, and the way it seems as if they’ve never spent time apart.
I love the banter between these three and the kind of friendship it speaks of what they have. Mike and Sonny definitely loved to tease Tye on his crush for this girl. Great snippet!
I feel like Tye has a little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other – goading and guarding at the same time. Great snippet.
