He’d turned off his phone last night but when he turned it on this morning texts and missed calls from his manager and bandmates kept coming in as his cell played catchup. He finally texted Malcom and told him he was okay and to tell the others he’d call them in a few days. Out of all his bandmates, Malcom asked the least questions.

Drake entered the apartment and turned on a light. The living room and kitchen were adjacent to each other and the hall took him past the bathroom and then the bedroom. Not big nor luxurious but clean. He slept like a baby.

Drake chuckled. “Why do I have a feeling there’s a story there?” “There is.” His lips curved and he seemed for a moment lost in thought. “I hope you aren’t going to keep me in suspense.” They chatted for hours, catching up and reminiscing about old times.
