At a very young age the Rules of Conduct for the Fallen Angels were drummed into Eli Grigori’s head. Rule number one: Do not befriend a human. Rule number two: Do not interfere in their lives. Rule number three: Do not have relations with a human. Rule number four: Under no circumstances will you ever reveal your true self. He managed to break all of the above.

Ol’ Hallow’s Eve is the day the veil between worlds are thin. It’s the only day out of the year the preternatural beings are allowed to walk among the humans as their true selves. With Eli’s wings bound and his glamour stripped, the Elders send him back in time before Ryden O’Sullivan knew the truth about him. If she is truly his soul mate, then her heart should recognize him.

There are those among the Watchers who are afraid Eli might succeed in his quest for love. If he does, everything will change within the brethren. Hashasheen demons, assassins for hire are sent to take out Eli and Ryden. Eli is a warrior and will fight to keep Ryden safe, but time may be his biggest enemy. The Elders gave him until the end of Ol’ Hallow’s Eve. Ryden must fall in love with him by then or his life will be forfeited.

Excerpt:

“I want to kiss you, Ryden O’Sullivan. What do you say about that?”

Man, the way Eli said her name, curling it off his tongue like he was describing a tantalizing sweet. She wanted him to kiss her, too. “I…”

He didn’t wait for her to finish and she really didn’t know what she was going to tell him anyway. It didn’t seem to matter now. He took the steps that separated them. His one hand encircled her waist, bringing her closer. His other hand tipped her head up, cradling it in his palm. Slowly, lazily, never breaking eye contact, he lowered his mouth to hers, claiming her lips. The sweet urgency of his kiss was like a drug, making her shake, breathless and yearning for more. The kiss spilled through to her soul with recognition. She kissed him before…made love to him. Startled at where her thoughts had drifted, she shook her head and pulled away. That wasn’t right. They hadn’t even dated and she sure would remember taking this man to her bed. Man, her brain was severely scrambled.

Love has the power to lead someone from despair to salvation, especially when one has the love of their soul mate. Eli is a member of the Grigori, brethren which consist of Nephilim and Fallen Angels. Their place in the order of things is to observe humans in their day to day lives. There are rules in place which the Grigori must follow, including that they do not interfere with human fate, they never make themselves known to humans, they never have sexual relations with humans, and they never befriend humans.

Eli is guilty of breaking all of these rules. His actions have caused the Elder council of the Grigori to summon him for punishment. In pleading his case to the Elders, he tries to make everyone at the council gathering understand how special the human object of his desire is to him. Eli explains that Ryden O’Sullivan is his true soul mate and that a relationship with her would redeem his soul not damn it. Such a compelling argument does Eli make that the Elders decide to let him prove that he has indeed found his soul mate and that their love is not some by-product of his angelic glamour. If he can do this before Halloween is over, they will consider letting him go to Ryden and make a life with her. The down side to the task he has undertaken is that the Elders have sent him back in time to Ryden before they actually became romantically involved. His wings and angelic powers have been bound and he must function as a normal human with human limitations and vulnerabilities.

Eli has quite the task to complete in a very short amount of time, and he must admit a little doubt has crept into his mind as to whether Ryden fell in love with him or was enamored with his angelic glamour. In his heart, he knows that Ryden loves him and he will do everything in his power to make her feel that for him again. If he is unsuccessful, then the punishment he faces is death. If he is successful, he will have his true love, and a turning point will be reached for the Grigori brethren. For then, evidence will be had that Nephilim and Fallen Angels are capable of being redeemed by love, and soul mates definitely exist for them. Unfortunately, there is someone among the Brethren who is not willing to take a chance that Eli will be victorious, and undertakes a plan to sabotage Eli and Ryden’s relationship. Will Eli and Ryden be able to prove love conquers all and be allowed to stay together?

Eli: Warriors for the Light is a romantic, paranormal short story that is engrossing from the beginning. The subject matter of Fallen Angels in paranormal romances is hot right now, and Ms. Nutt weaves a wonderful tale of hunky, sexy angels and their quest for true love. By the end of the story, the reader is left wishing for another one hundred pages of Eli and Ryden’s story. You just don’t want it to come to an end. Eli and Ryden fit perfectly together and just seem to be meant for each other. They have an easy-going rapport and are total in sync with one another. There is sexual tension between the two, and you can see how badly they want each other, but they don’t push or rush into anything, Their chemistry works and delving into descriptions of sexual intimacy are not needed to make this story sexy. The old adage, “Less is more”, definitely fits this story.

This is a great book to curl up with if love stories about Fallen Angels and Nephilim are of interest to you. There is something very appealing and sexy about having such powerful paranormal creatures as romantic leads in love stories, and this is no exception. Ms. Nutt has done very well in delivering a top-notch romance which should please paranormal fans.

Eli is a Fallen Angel, a Nephilim Warrior, half human and half angel. He believes his brethren should not be accountable for the transgressions of their fathers before them. He believes there is truth behind a legend passed down from generations that their kind will finally have a chance to redeem themselves and know the joys of Heaven when they die. However, Eli’s decision could cost both, him and the woman he loves, their lives when he claims her as his soul mate.

Being punished for breaking the Rules of Conduct, Eli is sentenced to go back in time to a point before his soul mate, Ryden, knew who and what he was. He has until the end of Ol’ Hallow’s Eve to make Ryden fall in love with him all over again or his life is forfeited. But with some of his brethren not wanting Eli to succeed in his quest, his time begins to run out. Will Ryden be able to say the three words Eli so desperately needs to hear?

This is what a true love story is all about; forbidden passion, an undying love, compelling action, and an ending that leaves the reader with a sense of fulfillment. Karen Michelle Nutt does not disappoint when it comes to her realm of story-telling. Her dazzling descriptions of the characters, unique style of writing, well planned out plot, and ability to write sincere emotions is breathtaking. The visualization of Ryden recalling a memory of being encircled by Eli’s wings was written as if I personally experienced Eli’s winged embrace surrounding me, felt the softness of his feathered wings, and the sensation of his masculine touch. (Sigh). That was an amazing climactic moment for me, so realistically and emotionally perceived. The only wrong doing of this story is the wickedness behind Karen’s cleverness by making the reader have to wait for the next book, which is about Lucca. And Lucca is my type of bad boy angel, long blond hair, blue eyes and tight ass jeans….. YUMMY! Eli: The Warriors for the Light is a must read!!!!

There are many rules of the Fallen Angels, but there are four that must never be broken. Rule number one: Never befriend a human. Rule number two: Do not interfere in their lives. Rule number three: Never have relations with a human. Rule number four: Never reveal your true self. Eli Grigori managed to break all four! Facing death for his sin of revealing his true self to his human mate, Ryden O’Sullivan, he is given a chance to prove that their love is real. Striped of his wings and having his glamour bound, Eli is allowed to travel back in time to before Ryden knew who he was. All he has to do to save them both is to have her fall in love with him all over again. But there is someone who wants Eli to fail, and will stop at nothing to make sure he does.

Eli: Warriors for the Light is the first in the Fallen Angels series. The series starts off with Eli, a fallen angel who breaks the rules and tells a human about what he is. Faced with death, or proving that even without his powers Ryden would still love him; he sets out to win her heart, again!! Asking the question, “if you truly are soul mates, wouldn’t you fall in love all over again?” Ms. Nutt has a gift for quality storytelling that moves the reader and leaves them very satisfied. This is a story with great characters, and the introduction of all the fallen angels and their stories to come. I loved the characters and felt I was able to get to them individually, without taking away from the story. I really liked the villain, Lucca, and I cannot wait for his story coming soon! I have reviewed several of Ms. Nutt’s works and I am always left satisfied.

Warning: Do not start this unless you have time to finish. I started it in my lunch hour at work and had to keep sneaking a read until I finished

“There are four rules that the Fallen Angels must keep::
1- Do not befriend a human
2- Do not interfere in their lives
3- Do not have relations with a human
4- Under no circumstances will you ever reveal your true self.”

Having lived for more than a few centuries, Eli has succumbed to the charms of Ryden and broken every single rule. Brought in for his judgment, Eli is defiant and insistent that Ryden is his true soulmate. In the face of this persistent, the judgment against Eli gives him 24 hours to have Ryden declare her love for him, but he must go back in time to do so before he and Ryden became a couple. Will Ryden still love him without his glamour and can she overcome her inherent wariness to declare her love in such a short time?

As a Fallen Angel, Eli has an inherent glamour that draws the so-called “lesser species” to him. The elders refuse to believe that Ryden could love Eli for himself without his glamour. If they were to accept this, it would change the whole structure of their society. Eli, though, knows she does and is prepared to face death for this belief. If you are looking for a strong-willed protective male lead then go no further, Eli will defend Ryden with his life even when his powers are bound and he has to rely on only his long years of experience as a warrior.

I almost gave this a five as is very well written and draws you in. As stated above, I started this very compelling story in my lunch hour and had to keep stealing reads until I finished. The only reasons it didn’t get a five where a couple of little niggles; there is one question that, while briefly asked, is never answered and it bugged me. When a Fallen Angel finds a soulmate in a human, what happens when the human dies, or does being mated somehow give the human longevity? The only other slight niggle was the glossary at the start. Since this was there, I didn’t expect explanations for all the terms throughout the story but they were there and it was just a little frustrating.

I really enjoyed this as an obvious start to a series and am very eager to find out how the other Fallen Angels find their soulmates. The next story will be challenging as Lucca seems a real piece of work.

So in closing, this is an enthralling story that leaves you wanting more and wondering just how the other Fallen Angels stories will come about.

Breaking the Rules of Conduct for the Fallen Angels when he reveals his true nature to a human woman, Ryden O’Sullivan, Eli is to be sentenced for his crime, but he argues against the Elders of the Grigori and so they decide to give him Halloween night to prove that what they share for each other is true love. But there are some of the Fallen Angels that fear Eli will succeed in his test of true love, and will stop at nothing to see that he fails.

Nutt blends danger and desire into a brilliant romance. It kept me glued to the book until the very end.

Eli is a Fallen Angel and knows the rules that govern them. Don’t befriend a human; don’t interfere in their lives; don’t have relations with them: and never, ever reveal your true self. Unfortunately for Eli, he broke all the rules when he fell in love with Ryden O’Sullivan. Brought up in front of the Watcher council, the Elders are giving Eli until end of All Hollow’s Eve to have Ryden fall in love with him all over again-this time as a human. If he fails, then his life is forfeited.ELI kicks off an amazing new series by Karen Michelle Nutt called the Warriors For The Light/Fallen Angels series. I picked this up at bedtime and basically could not put it down. It drew me in, kept me glued to the pages and had me so hooked by the end of chapter one, I was unable to go to bed until I finished the book. It was wonderfully well written and very engrossing. This was the first book of this author’s I have read and I just had to find out if she had other books for me to explore. With each page, the reader is drawn into a world of fallen angels, love and soul mates. The secondary characters kept the story flowing smoothly and I am eager to see who the next book will be about as there were a few characters that had me intrigued.

Meet Eli, a fallen angel who breaks all the rules that govern his kind by falling in love with a human. There are some among the Fallen Angels who fear change and resist it at all costs. Eli is given the chance to prove to the Elders and the Watchers that there are soul mates for them all. But there are two catches: One, he is to be a human, his glamour and wings bound and two, he has until end of All Hollows Eve to get his love, Ryden O’Sullivan to fall in love with him. If he fails, his life is forfeited. I loved Eli. He was a breath of fresh air and delivers a charisma that drew me in. His deep convictions that there were soul mates for the fallen angels were powerful and made him a few enemies in the process. Eli is a strong man who finds himself in a unique position when he has to woo his lady’s heart-AGAIN!!! Strong characters keep the story flowing nicely and the many twists and turns left me gasping as I flipped the pages to see what would happen next.

ELI: WARRIORS FOR THE LIGHT is a story that isn’t just a romance but one that asks “If you found your soul mate once, can you fall in love all over again?” This question is one that will run through your mind the entire time you read this exciting new kick off to the Fallen Angels series. Ms. Nutt is a talented storyteller who delivered a story that will intrigue you from the beginning. I am eager to see which fallen angel is next to find their soul mate. I just hope it won’t be too long in the future. If you are looking for a new twist on fallen angels, then grab ELI: WARRIORS FOR THE LIGHT and settle in for one pulse pounding ride. I just recommend you don’t start this right before bed.

Eli Grigori is a Fallen Angel who will cede his life if he does not accomplish his mission. Eli wholeheartedly believes that he has found his soul mate in the form of human Ryden, and he is willing to risk everything to prove to his brethren that what they share is real. Even with his powers stripped, Eli is a formidable warrior and will not let anyone, angel or demon, hurt his love.

Ryden O’Sullivan has been admiring the writer, Eli, ever since the first time she waited on him but suddenly her crush seems larger than life, and she begins having deja vu. She may not know Eli well, but her heart knows him and now she just has to listen to it and trust him.

The Fallen Angels and their offspring live by many rules, four of which are the most important. Number one: Do not befriend a human. Number two: Do not interfere in their lives. Number three: Do not have relations with a human. And rule number four: Under no circumstances will you ever reveal your true self. Eli Grigori has violated them all by falling in love with Ryden O’Sullivan. Now he has one day for Ryden to fall in love with him or he will cease to exist, and her mind will be erased of any memories of him.

Karen Michelle Nutt introduces a fantastic new series with this story. Her characters are phenomenal, and I cannot wait to read the next offering. The fact that this is the premier could have meant a lot of boring back-story but this jumps right into the action while still filling in the framework. The descriptions are detailed without being overly flowery and the tone is arresting. I am looking forward to delving into the lives of the other Fallen Angels as I already feel I am invested in what becomes of all of them. The fact that the bad boy’s story is up next is a unique move. The sensual and romantic atmosphere is skillfully woven throughout the tale. I appreciated the glossary, which was included but would have preferred it be at the end as it bogged down the beginning, and I honestly did not want to start reading. But, I am glad I pushed on because I highly enjoyed this story. This is rated PG-13 but I am not sure that I would want my young adult reading this as the sexuality is very strong which, as an older reader, I greatly enjoyed.

Karen Michelle Nutt is no stranger to the paranormal romance genre which you can easily tell reading her novel “Eli: Warriors for the Light”.

Eli is half angel, half human and has broken all the cardinal rules of the Grigori; not the least of which are never fall in love with a human and never ever reveal ones; true self to a human.

What is worse, he has been caught and now must suffer the consequences. Despite much disagreement within the council of elders for the fallen angels, he is sentenced to prove the human is his soul mate by returning to earth before they met and making her fall in love with him all over again before midnight on Hallowe’en which is the following night.

All of this is made more complicated by the fact that someone or something is trying to kill him to ensure that he is not able to prove that the Grigori have a soul and can, therefore, find a soul mate.

Ms. Nutt truly impressed me with the amount of background research she has done for her books; Eli being the first in the Warriors for the Light series.

She has based her terminology and paranormal history on the Torah, the Book of Enoch and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The characters are younger than those written in those ancient texts, which gives her the freedom of developing her own characters and personalities but their world and its rules follow the doctrine.

I also really enjoyed the bonus material at the end giving a synopsis of the various Nephilim (angels) and Grigori (the fallen) written about in the ancients texts she references. She even lists books and websites to go to for more information.

The magnetism between Eli and Ryden, the human Eli has fallen for, is immediately apparent. Ms. Nutt does an excellent job at making the writer feel the attraction between them as well as the peril they face. It is a short novel, perfect for a plane trip or relaxing day on the beach or any other time you need a break from the daily grind. It is an enjoyable read that I highly recommend.

Awesome Read!

I love the mythical world of the Nephilim (half angel/half human), or better known in the bible as “The Watchers”. Each time I read a book about The Watchers I learn something new about them and this author has definitely done her homework with the history behind these Nephilim by adding the rules and consequences of engagement between Angels and humans.

I truly loved and enjoyed reading this book. The author’s writing was easy to follow and not once did I get bored. I actually couldn’t put the book down because of all the action and excitement of what was going to happen next definitely captured and intrigued me right away. This first book was full of a lot of information about the Nephilim and because of that I believe the next books in this series will be remarkable good.

The romance was flirty and sweet in the fact that the book was more about Eli proving that Ryden was his soul mate and in order to do that he is cast back into time before Eli and Ryden were intimate but when he kisses her, flashes of him making love to her along with vision of him with his wings spread and wrapped around her as he bites her with his fangs below her breast as if marking and bonding are brought forward into her memory as if in a da’ja’vu. The memory startles her but does it save Eli in the end from the punishment of the Elders or will the demon assassins kill them before the end of Ol’Hallows Eve?

A must read to find out and I promise you will not be disappointed. I promise you will want to know more about each character as they find their true soul mate in order to save their souls from damnation and like I do will look forward to read the next book coming out called “Lucca: Warriors for the Light Bound by Hatred ~ Freed by Love”.
