Welcome to Snippet Sunday!
About this snippet: Chapter One (Don’t Fear) The Reaper Snippet 17.Β Check out last week’s snippet here.
Last week recap: Cecilia found her father’s journal hidden beneath a floorboard. She’s referring to her father in this first sentence of the snippet. Before her father died, his bandmates claimed he was paranoid.
The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited.

He even accused her mother of having someone follow him. It was why at first the authorities believed her father’s accident had been a suicide, that he’d been unstable.
She stared at the book and wondered what she should do with it. Give it to her mother?
She stood, placed the last guitar in its place and closed the closet door. She glanced at the book in her hand. She’d be lying if she weren’t just a tad curious to know what her father had written. Maybe after she read it and made sure there wasn’t anything in it that would upset her mother, she’d give it to her. God knew her mother didn’t need anything else to obsess about in regards to her father.
She placed the journal on the desk but as she turned a loud slap against the wood floor had her whirling back with a gasp.

Would you give the journal to Cecilia’s mother?
Love to hear your feedback.
Unofficial Blurb for End of the Road
Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago and is trapped in limbo until his daughter, Cecilia, unearths his journal and is able to see him. His death was ruled an unfortunate accident, but he’s convinced it had to be murder despite the fact he can’t recall what happened in his last moments of life. Cecilia seeks the help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lar’s rock and roll life just may be the death of them too.

No way should she give the book to mother. Get over yourself, girl. Move on. Get a life. And who is stepping into her space? Quick. Hide the book!
Charmaine,
Lol- I love your response to the noise Cecilia heard.
I’d read it first, but then I’m naturally curious (one of the reasons I liked working for a police service). Great snippet.
Sue,

Well done at sustaining the tension and interest. Excellent cliff hanger!

Oh, now I need to know what that slapping sound was!
PT,
Next week, I promise.
I would read it first, and then give it to her. Interesting back story. I wonder what the noise was.
Nancy,
I would read the book first too. I’d be too curious not to.
Things that go bump … does it want her to read the journal, or not?
Christina,
Wait and see. π
I think dad wants her to read it now. Great snippet. π
Jennifer,
I think he does too.
The mystery of what’s in the journal would’ve been sufficient to keep me reading, but then the loud noise added even more tension to the snippet. Good job!
Ed,
So glad the snippet has you intrigued to know more. π
Nice little cliffhanger. We want to know what made the noise.
Elaine,
Next week, I promise.
I’m a natural snoop, so I’d be really eager to read whatever were in there! I’m also curious to know what that mystery noise was.
Carrie-Anne,
I would be too curious not to read the journal too.
She shouldn’t give it to her mother without reading it first. So, who just came in?
Diane,
You will have to wait until next week to find out. π
I’d totally read it haha. Great snippet!
“He even accused her mother of having someone follow him” It sounds as if there is some skullduggery afoot. Excellent (imagine a chortle and hands rubbing if it helps)
No, Mommy Dearest doesn’t need that journal. Keep it!
What was the slapping sound for! I need to know! And I don’t think I would give mother that journal, not with how she acts.
Daelyn,
I probably wouldn’t.
