Enjoy a snippet from last week: Abraham’s UN-DEAD.
This week’s snippet is from Flowers and Fangs.
When the Hayes brothers arrived at the Wilkins’ home, they found the Nosferatu (one of the more nastier vampires and the most lethal) , hunting for a souvenir to take back to his nest, a memento of his successful kill. They’ve taken the fight in the backyard.
This is in Derek’s POV.

A whoosh of wind blew the ends of his hair off the base of his neck. “Look alive, bros,” he warned his brothers as he spun in the direction, he believed the vamp to be, with his weapon ready to shoot.
“Holy effin’ hell,” Wade cursed. His Stetson no longer sat upon his head, but lay a few feet to the left of him, but Wade knew better than to let this distract him.
The vamp toyed with them, flitting in between them like a ghost before hiding in the shadows.
The chains clicking like wind chimes drew his attention to the swing set. The swing blew in the breeze. He narrowed his eyes and shifted his gaze toward the large oak tree, the vamp sat no more than a few feet away among the foliage and flowers. Two glowing red eyes peered back at him. “Gotcha.” His forefinger pressed on the trigger and the arrow flew.

Weekend Writing Warriors for Eight Sentence Sunday
I’m not sure it’s going to be that easy to kill this vampire.
Linda,
He’s going to put up a good fight. ๐
I love there motto. I hope they get to kill lots of bad vamps in this scene. ๐
Jennifer,
It’s the plan. ๐
Wow–I hope he did actually get him. That is one fast Nosferatu, and I think if they don’t get him quick, this won’t end well.
Great job writing the scene, Karen. The action was easy to follow.
Teresa,
So glad you enjoyed the action scene.
Whoa… Okay, that was an awesome, eerie scene to picture. I love it! Especially the line about the swings like wind chimes and the vampire toying with them. Love how he hid in the flowers — something so pure compared to him, I’m assuming — with only the red eyes to see. Well done snippet!
Daelyn,
So glad you picked up on the pure innocence of the flowers and how evil lurked within. ๐
Good, clear action.
Ed,
So glad the action rang true. ๐
I like! I like! Nice set up of the action, the thoughts of the MC and the vamp movement
I could picture this. The swing set was a nice touch in such a creepy scene.
Very eerie, your descriptive voice was wonderful. And I am sure that this vampire is going to move just as quickly from the line of the arrow, he’s just taunting Derek.
Wow! Love the tension in this scene. Nicely done.
Excellent scene, I’m with everyone else who doesn’t think the kill will be done so easily. I loved the hat getting knocked off, and the swingset…great snippet!
Such great description I could picture everything. Great snippet.
She sounds like a force to be reckoned with.
Great cliffhanger to end it on!
