Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new ‘rock star romance’ that I’m working on. It’s in the very early stages.
Last week : Maverick handed over the keys to the apartment to Rowan.
This is Rowan’s POV.
***
With his hand still on the doorknob, he turned to face her. His dark shades of blue searching hers – for God knew what – but she didn’t mind his curiosity. She waited patiently, if not bit breathless for him to formulate the question he seemed intent on asking her with the upmost care.
“So how do you like your eggs?”
“Huh?” she blurted then pursed her lips. Had she heard him correctly? Did he just ask her about eggs?
“I figure we could talk shop over breakfast.”
Disappointment rang clear in her mind but she couldn’t quite pinpoint why. Of course he’d want to go over the job details.

Love to hear your feed back. 🙂
About Heart and Soul…
80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn’t be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?

LOL … I can see her disappointment, and understand it, too. Nice little twist.
Iris,
I’m glad yo enjoyed the twist.
Nice writing. I swear, I was in the room with them!
Teresa,
Cool, I’m glad you did.
OK, I laughed out loud at his question. That was clearly not what she expected to hear!
Botanist,
I’m glad you did. heehee. 🙂
She shouldn’t be disappointed though! Build the relationship before the “breakfast in bed” phase!
Amy,
That would be the logical thing to do but sometimes logic doesn’t always come into play in these matters.lol
I’m on the figurative edge of my seat during each of these snippets because it just feels like something momentous is about to happen…SO well done. I can’t wait to read more because I’m really enjoying this and the way you build the story.
Love how you set up her expectation then caught her disappointment at his question. Good job.
Diane,
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Haha! I can understand her disappointment, but eggs are always good.
Christina,
There is always that. lol
Don’t you just hate it when you’re so totally sure what’s going on in someone’s mind, and then they open their mouth and demolish your certainty?
Ed,
Yes, it can be very disappointing. lol
Oh yes, there’s nothing to make your heart sink like an anticlimatic response that you’d built high hopes on!
Maybe a work breakfast can grown friendlier over time. Who knows? 🙂
She was hoping for a little something else in that question, wasn’t she? I love how random the question is, but also shows he has some level of interest in pleasing her as well, otherwise he wouldn’t ask, he’d just make them any old way.
