“It’s been known to happen a time or two.”
“Hilarious, boy. I hope she’s good at her job and you didn’t hire her on her looks alone.” He chuckled as if he voiced a funny joke.
“She’s very capable.” He wasn’t going to discuss Rowan’s attributes with his father.
“Not a looker then,” he said with a sigh of disappointment. “Probably for the best.”
“I’ll let Rowan know, you’ll be sending a band our way,” he said completely ignoring his father’s last comment.
“I’ll be flying there with them.”

This is an interesting development. Not only does Maverick’s relationship with his father broaden his characterization, it threatens a complication for his attraction to Rowan.
