NOOK
Set up: Kait hands out the drinks, but Michaela hesitates thinking she shouldn’t mix her pain meds with alcohol. She realizes then she hasn’t taken any pain meds because of Alan’s magic touch. Alan believes her hesitation is something else and reassures her she doesn’t have to indulge, but good sweet Kait always has a come back. Enjoy the snippet…
***Note: Snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. Fancy punctuations to make this one work. lol

Kait rolled her eyes and said, “Ye only live once.”
Michaela met Kait’s gaze with a determined nod. “You are so right.” She raised her shot glass with a salute then threw back her head and drained the contents. The liquid burned all the way down, but damn it felt good to let loose.
“No’ bad for a Yank.” Kait nodded with approval.
“Hey,” Steven protested.
“Now, I wasnae referrin’ to ye, now was I?” Kait said as she draped her arm around Steven’s shoulders and added, “Are ye up for another then?”

Weekend Writing Warriors for Eight Sentence Sunday
A drinking competition with Kait really doesn’t sound like a good idea.
Probably not. lol
Oh, I so think she’s going to regret that defiance 🙂
Sherry,
Maybe. lol
Great snippet–I enjoyed Kait’s comeback.
Nancy,
So glad you enjoyed Kait’s snarky attitude. lol
Somehow I am seeing all sorts of ways for this to go bad…
PT,
Wait and see. lol
Haha! Bad for a Yank. 🙂 I love the brogue, Karen! Good snippet 🙂
Teresa,
So glad you’re liking the banter. 🙂
Will be interesting to see what direction this drinking challenge of sorts goes. I always feel as if I’m there in the pub with them, terrific excerpt!
Veronica,
So glad you, do.
I wonder who’ll get drunk first if they start this competition, and who’ll last longest.
Michaela’s “You’re so right,” hit me so hard, for obvious reasons!
Love it…and I am liking Miss Kait!
It’s a good snippet. Your characters really have distinct voices that carry through even in a short passage.
I think she’s about to regret it.
Wonderful atmosphere.
