Enjoy a snippet from RODEO BLUES. Feedback is always appreciated. ๐ย
If you’re interested in last week’s snippet of Rodeo Blues here you go: Chapter 3 snippet 3
Snippet: Sam, the old man who greets those going into Big Bob’s Saloon, and Tye are catching up on what old friends have been up to. Sam told Tye that Jolie was married with six kids. Took Tye a few seconds but once Sam chuckled, he realized his panic was for nothing. Sam was only teasing him.ย This takes place a few paragraphs later from last week.
This is in Tye’s POV. Sam is speaking first.

“Still carrying a flame for the purdy gal, are you?”
“A torch, if you must know.”
Sam let out a low whistle. “You better be doing some fancy talking ’cause you hurt that little gal when you left her at the altar.”
He could argue he didn’t technically leave her at the altar, but this was a small town. They’d been dating for a long time and everyone would have expected them to tie the knot sooner or later. It had been the plan, but it hadn’t worked out in the end.
“You might be safer tackling a bull than with her,” Sam said as he eyed him with a keen eye.
“Yeah, done that and I’m still standing.”
“Good thing, but if you don’t mind I’ll lay my odds on Jolie.”

Thanks for the load of confidence, Sam. lol Only time will tell if Tye will still be standing after he finds Jolie. Tye doesn’t strike me as one to give up. What do you think?
Hope you enjoyed the snippet.

Blurb:
Eight Seconds to Lose the Girlโฆ
One chance to win her back.
Tye Casper, a.k.a. the Ghost Rider and champion bull rider, should be the happiest cowboy alive, but when he left home ten years ago to make it big, he said goodbye to the only woman he has ever loved. He’s had his eight seconds of glory, but without Jolie Lockhart by his side, the wins mean nothing.
He’s been given an opportunity to return home to Skeeter Blue for one last rodeo. He believes fate has sent him there and he’ll have a second chance with Jolie, but nothing goes as planned. He soon realizes staying seated on a bull for eight seconds may prove much simpler than winning Jolie’s heart.

I like the old man … and the “torch” reply. ๐ great snippet!
Iris,
So glad you enjoyed the snippet.
He’s determined to get her back but I am sure it’s going to take a lot of doing. I like how Sam says it would be easier to tackle a bull. Great story.
Chelle,
So glad you’re enjoying the tale. ๐
“It hadn’t worked out in the end”? Something is telling me that it’s not the end yet. I hope she makes him work for it though. ๐
Great snippet, Karen. Atonement is hell when you’re still carrying a torch for someone.
Paula,
Yes, it is. ๐
I bet it’ll take a lot of fancy footwork and wrangling to win her back, after what happened.
Carrie-Anne,
You can bet on it. ๐
I love that he’d be safer tackling a bull. Tells a lot about Jolie and I think I like her already!
PT,
So glad you do. ๐
Heh. Small town life can be rough– especially in matters of the heart. Everyone knows everyone’s business. You convey all of this very well.
Jeff,
Small towns can be rough when you need some privacy. lol So glad I conveyed this in the snippets.
Left her at the altar? Oh dear, that sounds like an insuperable obstacle.
Ed,
Well, Sam’s doing a little exaggerating there. lol But Tye will still have a lot of making up to do.
I’m with Sam, placing my bet on Jolie! But it’ll be so much fun to read…excellent excerpt!
Veronica,
Sam does have a great point. lol So glad you’re enjoying the snippets.
I expect she’ll make him work before she forgives him. I’m enjoying these excerpts.
Elaine,
Of course she will. ๐
Lots of humor in this snippet. Success with all your books, Karen
Charmaine,
Thanks so much.
Public humiliation never goes over well. And I bet as the one who was left… she had plenty of reminders. She’s going to be a tough sell!
Caitlin,
It won’t be easy for Tye that is for sure.
I want to know why he left her and why he wants her back now.
I love how they refer to how much he loves her yet by comparing it to fire. Beautifully done and with symbolism, too. As fire can be used to describe passion. Poor guy though, he’s going to have his work cut out for him in getting the girl back. Tackling a bull might just be easier!
Great snippet!
