“Would have been nice if you gave us all a call once in a while. Would have done so myself, but it seems your phone number ain’t listed.”
So that was why Sonny seemed PO’, and he ouldn’t blame him, but he had his reasons. He didn’t want the boys asking him when he planned to come home. Didn’t want them telling him Jolie had moved on and forgotten all about him. “I’ve been selfish,” he said to Sonny, and then glanced at Mike too. “Didn’t mean to shut you all out, but stupidity got the better of me. My keister wasn’t the only thing knocked around.” He tapped his head and grinned, hoping Sonny would take the apology for what it was worth.
Sonny’s mouth slowly curved into a genuine smile as he said, “Well then, I suppose it’s our luck you found your way back home.”

Apology accepted. At least the boys forgave him for not calling home. ๐

Eight Seconds to Lose the Girlโฆ
One chance to win her back.
Tye Casper, a.k.a. the Ghost Rider and champion bull rider, should be the happiest cowboy alive, but when he left home ten years ago to make it big, he said goodbye to the only woman he has ever loved. He’s had his eight seconds of glory, but without Jolie Lockhart by his side, the wins mean nothing.
He’s been given an opportunity to return home to Skeeter Blue for one last rodeo. He believes fate has sent him there and he’ll have a second chance with Jolie, but nothing goes as planned. He soon realizes staying seated on a bull for eight seconds may prove much simpler than winning Jolie’s heart.

He seems to be something of a fast talker. It’s a skill that can come in handy.
Ed,
He’ll have to do a lot of fast talking when he sees Jolie. lol
nice snippet … got stuck, though, on PO and keister. US lingo ??
Iris,
Charmaine beat me to the explanation. lol It’s US slang. Hadn’t really thought about. lol
I love the apology and its acceptance. Friends like that are awesome.
PT,
Aren’t they. ๐
I hadn’t expected him to find forgiveness quite so easily but it’s obvious he sounded sincere and was willing to take the responsibility. The fact that he didn’t want them to tell him Jolie moved on without him is poignant.
Chelle,
Guys are fast with the fist, but quick on the forgiving. At least it’s my opinion. lol Women–can hold a grudge for a long time. A little more groveling may be required. lol
Fantastic chemistry, Karen. Everything about this snippet works.
I just bought it at Amazon. Looks so good. ๐
I have a serious backlog of books right now on my Kindle. It might be a bit before I get to it. ๐
Teresa,
So glad you love the chemistry of my characters. Thanks so much for purchasing a copy. You’re a sweetheart! ๐
Perfect. he has a way of getting right back in with friends not seen for years. PO is pissed off and keister is your butt.
No charge.
Charmaine,
Thanks for helping Iris out with the definition of the slang words. ๐
Good apology, even if not quite all of the truth. He has some solid friends there, hope he appreciates that. Excellent excerpt!
Veronica,
Thanks so much. ๐
I thought having friends was supposed to mean never having to say sorry… The scene feels very real to me because you capture both characters’ essences.
Jeff,
So glad the scene rang true. ๐
I thought they’d have a harder time forgiving him. He is a smooth talker.
Elaine,
Tye is only being honest, but he’ll need to use that smooth talking soon. He’s yet to see Jolie.
I really like this snippet and the interaction between the two guys.
Well, that wasn’t so hard. Good thing neither of them hold a grudge!
Caitlin,
The guys were pretty easy, but Jolie may not be. ๐
Love the apology. Great thing they both dont hold grudges.
Cecilia,
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Very nice! Just the way I’d expect old friends to meet again.
Dianne,
True friends tend to forgive. ๐
Nice 8, er, 10! LOL
It’s nice to have a friend that is still afraid when you come back from a disappearing act.
Quick thinking on his part and great friends to be so forgiving after so long. One of those inseparable types of friends.
