Welcome to Snippet Sunday. This is a snippet from Soul Taker.
If you missed the last weeks snippet, here’s the link. :): Chapter 1 #6
Set up:
Garran has staked Sanya. To her surprise she didn’t burst into a pile of ash, but the the stake does paralyze her, while allowing her to have full function of her thoughts and speech.
This snippet takes place a few paragraphs later from last week’s snippet.
***Note: The snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. Warning: There may be some fancy punctuations and long sentences.

“Did ye know the ancients would bury a vampire, leave them to contemplate their sins while the rats and bugs ate at their flesh? Quite painful I hear, but alas a vampire heals and the process repeats all over again the next night and the next… forever.”
“Please, you wouldn’t do that to me, would you?” Sanya asked as she tried to make her limbs move, but to no avail.
“I believe ye need to learn a lesson, Sanya,” he said as she heard a vehicle screech to a halt beside the curb and a door opened and shut.
“Are you ready to move her?” Harrison Connell asked.
She’d known Garran’s dog wouldn’t be too far behind.
“I believe I’m finished with her,” Garran said as he slid his arms beneath her legs, strode to the van and tossed her in like she was trash going to the dumpsite.
She had to think of something that would save her, then it came to her and she shouted, “Wait!”

What could Sanya know? 🙂

Weekend Writing Warriors for Eight Sentence Sunday
I’m hoping Garran is not at all like the ancients. Eek! That’s a horrible sentence to enact on anyone. Hoping Sanya convince him to listen. 🙂
Heather,
I’ll give you hint… Garran isn’t all that horrible. 🙂
What I like the most about this introduction is the reverse pattern about good-guy/bad-guy.
Linda,
Thanks so much. Thanks for the review on Goodreads!
Wow, that’s pretty harsh! I like your take on the effects of staking.
Millie,
So glad you like the mythology. 🙂
I love the background as to bury a vampire for punishment. Intriguing. I can’t wait to hear what her plan is for escape.
Sarah,
I’m glad you’re intrigued. 🙂
Karen, your description is awesome with a touch of history. “Wait” indeed.
Charmaine,
Thanks so much. So glad you liked the snippet!
I really like her spunk (“Garran’s dog”) and determination.
P.T.,
She does have spunk. lol
Wow, and EWW. I hope she has something really compelling to say to Garran so she avoids the fate he was just describing! Quite the shivery excerpt today!
This continues to be wicked awesome, Karen!
This snippet plus the blurb has me intrigued by the posisble dynamics between Garran, Harrison, and Isabella. I wonder if Sayna has it right?
Sarah w,
I’m so glad you’re intrigued. Right back at you, too. I’m enjoying your snippets as well. Love paranormal tales. Bet you couldn’t tell. lol
“Wait!” Ugh! You leave us hanging at “Wait!”????? lol I really am getting to this book. It’s on my Kindle. So many stories, so little time…
Teresa,
Sorry to leave you hanging… sort of. lol So glad you’re enjoying the snippets. Time—I wish I had more of it. My Kindle is loaded with books I haven’t had time to read. 🙂
Wow, this excerpt gave me the shivers and I definitely worry for the vampire. Very interesting snippet.
Chelle,
Wonderful. It’s what I was going for. 🙂
Sounds like Prometheus.
Fun snippet… I’m looking forward to finding out what she’s going to do. I love your dialogue.
Jeff,
So glad you enjoyed the snippet and are curious to know what tale she’s going to spin.
I’m thrilled you like the dialogue, too. 🙂
Hey, at the idea of being buried “alive” (sort of) and having rats and insects eat her flesh, I was yelling “WAIT” too. 😀 Awesome snippet.
What indeed could she say? Burying the vampire gave me shivers.
