Welcome to Snippet Sunday. This is a snippet from Soul Taker.
If you missed the last weeks snippet, here’s the link. 🙂 Chapter #1 #7
Set up:
Sanya has been staked, but vampires don’t perish from such a wound, They are only paralyzed, but can still communicate. She must give Garran a good reason to remove the stake or suffer the consequences.
This snippet takes place a few paragraphs later from last week’s snippet.
***Note: The snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. Warning: There may be some fancy punctuations and long sentences.

“There’s vamp’s claiming to be the new leader of this territory,” she hurried to say, “and he’s like you, too.”
Garran’s hands gripped her shoulders and pulled her up so he could look her in the eyes as he spoke, “What do ye mean like me?”
“He’s from Scotland, if his brogue is any indication, and he looks like an angel, but… there’s something dark in him. He takes sucking the life out of his victims to a new level,” she said with a chuckle of admiration. “He has to be one of the creations from the she-devil septs from overseas because it’s almost like watching an incubus at work, but with an evil twist. You know the uncouth kind that seduces their prey, sucks their life source before ripping them to shreds,” she added, and if she could, she would have shrugged, but her limbs would not obey even the slightest gesture. “At least, if my prey aren’t turned, there’s something left of them for the grieving family to bury.”
When the side of Garran’s cheek pulsed as if he clenched his teeth, she thought maybe she shouldn’t have added the last part.

Sanya never learns does she? Probably revealing her admiration for the Soul Taker didn’t win her points either.
Stop by next week for snippet #9 from my Urban Fantasy tale, SOUL TAKER.

Interesting…A new vamp in town, scottish…the comparison to an incubus tells so much in just a few words. Great snippet as always.
Sarah C.,
So glad you picked up on what to expect. Glad you enjoyed the snippet. 🙂
Oh, well, that’s all right then—let her go. 😀
This is fantastic, Karen! I’ll be traveling this week, and I’m taking this with me. 🙂
Sarah,
So thrilled you’ll be taking Soul Taker with you. You’ll have to let me know how you liked tale. 🙂
Karen, this was exceptional. Like how you declared the one vamp an incubus, with an evil twist. Like they really needed an evil twist.
Gemma,
lol- Apparently some vamps are worse than others. 🙂
I think she just went a bit too far.
Hmmm, some interesting twists and turns in the snippet. she certainly got Garran’s attention. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Excellent excerpt!
Hoo boy, the sense of pending mayhem is strong. Nicely done.
Very interesting premise that there may be discord and different types of vampires. I always tease my hubby because his grandmother was born in Transylvania – now maybe I think I will be nicer to him…
Yes, I certainly think Sanya should have stopped talking.
I like Sanya, somehow. She is kind of looking for the same think women are all looking for except that she is out of luck and has to do it for centuries. That’s kind of pitiful.
Nice description of the other vampire. And I love this: “He takes sucking the life out of his victims to a new level,” because, you know, sometimes “dead” just isn’t dead enough.
(Actually… I know some people… Can I hire him for a few nights?)
P.T.,
Too funny. I’ll see if he’s available. lol
Sanya really likes being a vampire and admires (though not wise) a vampire with style. lol
