“I would have to go, since obviously, there’s been bad blood between you two, in more ways than one,” she said with a chuckle, but Garran didn’t crack a smile at her pun. She cleared her throat before she spoke again, “If he sees you, he’d only disappear again.”
“Do ye expect me to believe ye, Sanya?”
“I’m at your mercy, am I not? I’ll—”
Garran covered her mouth with his index finger. “I don’t want to meet with him. I want ye to get close to him, and find out what he’s up to.”
“You want me to spy on him,” she said not as a question, but he answered with a prompt, aye.

Weekend Writing Warriors for Eight Sentence Sunday
Well he certainly isn’t leaving her much choice, is he?
I’m amused that she tried to inject some humor into the situation, being staked and immobile seems so serious. Good 8.
Chelle,
Yes, Sanya does have a sense of humor, though sometimes it’s a little warped. lol
Sanya is not the best spy ever. I really feel sorry for her with all these guys using her.
Linda,
I wouldn’t feel too sorry for her. Sanya isn’t all that innocent. lol
Intrigue and vampires. I am curious about the difference between a vampire and soul taker. Is he dangerous to vampires? Sounds interesting.
Juneta at Writer’s Gambit
Juneta,
There a various septs of vampires. Some more lethal than others. The Soul Taker had decided to play by his own rules and Garran and Harrison are trying to stop him. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Ooh, I can really get a good sense of their characters from this & it’s only my first time reading. Nice job!
Sandra,
Thanks so much!! So glad you enjoyed the snippet!
voted! I do love that cover…
EE,
Thanks so much for voting! I so appreciate it!!
Is it wrong that I’m glad she’s still alive, so I can read more from her POV?
I know she’s not the good guy here, but I adore her voice! 😀
I so enjoy your writing style, Karen. This story is a corker.
I’m not sure she’d make a trustworthy spy.
Uh oh, probably not what she expected and, as someone said above, she doesn’t seem too well suited to be an effective spy. Intriguing, can’t wait for more. Great 8!
Now the question becomes… will she spy for Garran or against him?
I wouldn’t want to spy on someone, but interesting things can happen if she does.
Oh boy, whoever’s side you’re on, that’s a tough position to fill. Great snippet, Karen.
Hmmm… I’d worry what she’d do with whatever info she uncovers as “his” spy. Cool 8! 🙂
I love that even though she’s in a predicament, she’s still spunky.
Nice, sharp prose. I like the dynamic between Garran & Sanya.
Jeff,
So glad you’re enjoying the snippets.
