Twirl and Dip (WIP) Drake’s POV
He brushed by a woman going in the opposite direction and knocked her souvenir T-shirt out of her hands. He knelt to retrieve it at the same time the woman did and they bumped heads. Both came up with an apology lacing their lips, but the woman’s focus narrowed as she took a closer look at Drake’s features.
“Hey, aren’t you—” she began but he didn’t let her finish as he shoved the tee at her and whirled away, not waiting to find out if he’d been recognized, though he had a pretty good idea his ruse was up.
He picked up his pace as he heard the woman shouting, “That’s Drake!”
People turned, and he’d be in deep trouble if he didn’t think fast. Fans could be brutal. “Omigod!” he said in a high-pitched voice filled with excitement. “Drake is over there signing autographs.” He pointed toward the woman and the crowd rushed forward.
(One more sentence to finish the scene)
Drake continued on his way, jumping off the paved walk and onto the grass to avoid the stream of people searching for him.
Possible Blurb:
Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. If things couldn’t get any more complicated, Drake, her ex-fiancé, returns home after five years on the road with his rock band, Never Mind the Damage.
Eastyn vows not to fall for Drake’s charms again, but when you have a lifetime of memories with the man, the heart seems not to care about pledges. Her haunted jukebox believes choosing the right song to twirl and dip to is the answer to everything. However, Eastyn isn’t convinced. She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?

That was a great diversion, but will it last long enough for him to leave?
Jessica,
Maybe.
Neat ruse.
Thank you.
Hahaha … I love his quick thinking. Go Drake !
Thanks. lol
He was quick on his feet, but will it give him enough time to get away? Great snippet!
It might.
Obviously not his first fan frenzy! Smart thinking. Crowds can become brutal animals.
Nancy,
It isn’t that is for sure.
I totally know how Drake feels. I’m swarmed all the time. 😉 Lol great snippet!
Julie,
I hope you’re quick on your feet. lol
LOL! Love the quick thinking ruse!
Ian,
Thank you.
I love it when people are able to think on their feet so effectively! Brilliant subterfuge to get him out of a tight spot. Great snippet!
Jenna,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Nice ruse. I hope it holds long enough for him to escape.
Audra,
We can hope. 🙂
Makes me wonder what he’s doing out there without any protection. I’m guessing he has a good reason to leave the protective bubble.
Alexis,
He thinks he does. lol
He thinks fast on his feet for sure, which is a good thing if he’s so recognizable. Enjoyed the snippet!
Veronica,

Love it!! I could just see the scene with the, “Omigod.” 😀
Poor guy. We ask so much of our celebrities regarding their personal time and space. I hope he makes it out okay.
