The way she said those words, he had a feeling there was more to that statement, but before he could say more, she patted his hand and stood. “Eat, drink, and rest. We’ll take care of everything else.” She turned headed to the back room where local bands starred on a small stage, acoustic style.
“I’ll make a few calls,” Maverick said and he turned to glance at him. “The first band is on at six. I’ll save you a seat, if you want?”
“I’d like that and thanks…for everything, man?” His voiced choked in his throat with emotion he’d been holding back for a long time.
“Don’t mention it.”
Possible Blurb:
Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. If things couldn’t get any more complicated, Drake, her ex-fiancé, returns home after five years on the road with his rock band, Never Mind the Damage.
Eastyn vows not to fall for Drake’s charms again, but when you have a lifetime of memories with the man, the heart seems not to care about pledges. Her haunted jukebox believes choosing the right song to twirl and dip to is the answer to everything. However, Eastyn isn’t convinced. She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?

Holly Adams narrated Heart and Soul, the third story in the Rock and Roll romance series. Now available at Audible.
Two Worlds Collided is one of my favorite tales about time travel, romance, and second chances. You can revisit the story at Audible, or if you haven’t read it yet, experience the adventure for the first time as the narrator opens the door to a new world. That’s right. You heard it hear first. Two Worlds Collided is available in an audiobook format narrated by the talented Sharmila Devar.
Are you excited yet? Yes, you say. Me, too. ♥
The reality of it all is hitting him it seems. The girl and others he left behind. Friends still willing to help out a friend in need.
Jeff,
When you’ve bee a performer for so long, sometimes the real you becomes a little lost.
Maverick’s a good guy, that’s for sure. It’s nice that he’s appreciated.
Ed,
Maverick is a good friend. 🙂
Great friends, no doubt!
Iris,
We all need a good friend.
He doesn’t seem used to be taken care of. Hopefully, everything will turn out all right.
Linda,
Hopefully. 🙂
Ahhh, the choked upp part. It really humanizes him, exposes his vulnerabilities. All that fame and money…yet here he is.
Nicely done!
Thank you. I was hoping that would be what the readers would see. Fame, money…he is just a man, trying to make it in this world like all of us.
I’m sure it’s really nice to have that unconditional friendship outside of the spotlight.
Jessica,
Everyone needs one. Though Maverick has been there, done that, so he gets Drake and what he’s going through.
Love the emotion in this snippet. Nice to see that friendship shining through. Great job!
Julie,
Thanks so much. I’m glad the emotions have come through for the reader.
The choked up part – was great. Shows a lot about the character.
Tweeted.
Daryl,
Thank you. I’m glad that added to the scene. Thanks for Tweeting.
Sounds like he needs help more than he realized.
Ian,
Yes, he does.
I do love how she deftly ended the conversation. How could that not add to the emotional impact of the scene!
Shari,
Thank you. 🙂
Funny how the simple things can really strike at the heart of the matter.
Alexis,
So true.
Nice! He needed to get back in touch with the past before he could appreciate the future. Or one potential version of it.
I like that he has the capability to make great friends and that they’ve decided to help him in his quest. Great snippet!
He’s really fortunate to have such caring, supportive friends.
Old friends are quite often the best friends. They “get” you on a different level than others do. And it seems he really needs that at the moment. Great snippet!
