Her feet froze as she realized how silly she was being. She strode over to the control box in the kitchen and flipped off the power to the sign outside. So what Drake was here? So what he was fixing her sign? They weren’t together any longer, and there was no going back to that disaster. Her feet moved on their own accord to the doorway of the kitchen and where she could see the front window and where Drake had placed the ladder so he could climb up to take a look at her sign. “The power’s off,” she shouted, and he gave her the thumbs up before he started up the ladder. Long and lean and sure footed. When he lifted his hands to reach for the sign, she caught sight of a bit of flesh where his T-shirt lifted, and his jeans began. She bit her lower lip and stepped back into her kitchen where she felt a whole lot safer.
(That’s 10) If you’d like, read on to finish the scene)
Not that she feared Drake in any way. She didn’t trust herself. No matter how much time had passed, Drake still did it for her and didn’t that just rankle her to no end.
However, she had plenty of will power when it came to sweet delights and never overdid it. She would treat Drake in the same manner. She already had her fill with him, and there was no reason to resample the goods. No matter how tempting.
The jukebox turned on in the other room and she cringed when she realized what record the darn machine had chosen to play. The lead singer of the Somethin’ Smith and The Redheads belted out the lyrics to It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie.
Possible Blurb:
Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. If things couldn’t get any more complicated, Drake, her ex-fiancé, returns home after five years on the road with his rock band, Never Mind the Damage.
Eastyn vows not to fall for Drake’s charms again, but when you have a lifetime of memories with the man, the heart seems not to care about pledges. Her haunted jukebox believes choosing the right song to twirl and dip to is the answer to everything. However, Eastyn isn’t convinced. She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?

Oh, she clearly still has deep feelings for him.
Iris,
Yes, she does.
Haha! Yes, she needs to stop lying to herself. Great snippet!
Jessica,
She does indeed.
Lol that jukebox knows too much. Loved this, and I wish I had her willpower when it comes to sweet treats!
Gotta love the jukebox who calls you out.
She’s certainly trying hard to keep her distance and work on her willpower but um….I have a feeling that won’t last much longer. The jukebox knows LOL! Great snippet.
Veronica,
The jukebox does.
At least she recognizes she’s lying to herself. That’s a start. Where does she go from here? Should be interesting.

Diane,
She is still working that part out.
I think it’s great when the heroine is hot and bothered by the hero and that irritates her more than anything. It says a lot about the character. At least she knows he’s a weakness, but I doubt she’ll be able to resist him for long. Great snippet!
Jenna,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the snippet.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much!
Ed,
Absolutely.
Called out by the jukebox! I love it.
The jukebox knows all. lol
Smart choice not to resample something that starts out tasty but ends up sour. However, I have a feeling she won’t be able to resist.
She won’t be able to resist for long.
I have the feeling that the juke box is going to be my favorite character!
