Did she invite him to join her? He cleared his throat. “I’d love a grilled cheese sandwich. Thank you,” he said and was surprised at how calm his voice sounded as if this proved the most normal invitation from an ex who should probably hate him.
“Coming right up,” she announced and went to work at the large stove top in front of the bar meant for frying up multiple meals at the same time, just like in the 40s diners of old, only this appliance appeared much newer.
He had fixed the sign but stayed rooted at the table instead of going outside and hanging the fixture. If he did, he wouldn’t be able to watch Eastyn cook or listen to her hum as she prepared them lunch. So he stayed and let the flood of memories reminded him of another time: her cooking him a meal while they chatted about what adventure they’d partake in for the day. He would help prepare, too, by chopping and mincing, though he was sure Eastyn would claim he snacked more than helped. His lips curved at the memory of days gone by, but when she glanced over her shoulder at him, he quickly lowered his gaze and pretended to fiddle with the wires.
Possible Blurb:
Eastyn has her soda shop to run and specialty ice creams to create. Only the place is falling apart, and she may have a haunted jukebox that chooses songs to communicate. If things couldn’t get any more complicated, Drake, her ex-fiancé, returns home after five years on the road with his rock band, Never Mind the Damage.
Eastyn vows not to fall for Drake’s charms again, but when you have a lifetime of memories with the man, the heart seems not to care about pledges. Her haunted jukebox believes choosing the right song to twirl and dip to is the answer to everything. However, Eastyn isn’t convinced. She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?

TWO WORLDS COLLIDED- JUNE 1st.
Evie Reid, on a whim, agrees to travel back in time to 1997 to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel’s path of destruction. She’s smart with a college degree, but she’s still fan-girl crazy for the rock band Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy’s smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he’s destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.
Bellamy isn’t keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.
End of the Road- June 16th
Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago, and his death was ruled an unfortunate accident. Despite the fact that he can’t recall what happened to him in his last moments of life, he is convinced that he was murdered. He has been trapped in limbo until his daughter Cecilia unearths his journal and is able to see him. She seeks help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lars’ rock-and-roll life just may be the death of them, too.
Heart and Soul – June 28th
The ’80s rock star Haley Rose and her boyfriend went missing without a trace on October 31, 1988 and were eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, 30-year-old Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know, and she can belt out songs in the same unique fashion. However, Rowan couldn’t be the missing rock star since Haley would now be in her 50s. Could Haley Rose have come back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett? Or is Rowan as delusional as her family suspects?
Wait until you listen to my audiobook clips or each of these Rock Star Romances! My narrators nail the characters and I’m so proud of it. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it.

Mermaid Cove and Seaside Sundaes
Short story FROM THE WILD ROSE PRESS’ ONE SCOOP OR TWO SERIES!
One selfless act as a teen unfairly caused Sirena Seafair to forfeit her ability to shift into a mermaid.
Fifteen years later, her mundane life is about to change when Jack O’Casey arrives in the Irish town of Grimm Nitch and opens his restaurant, Mermaid Cove. The man is bound and determined to make Sirena his no matter what. But if by chance, Sirena can find a way to reclaim her life as a mermaid, will she leave Jack and her human life behind in exchange for a life beneath the sea? Or will surrendering her heart to love be the magic she’s been waiting for all along?
Hopefully, she will join him in reminiscing the old days 🙂
I hope she’s reliving the memories (and making new ones) the way he is.
Well, they’re together and not yelling at each other, so that’s good. I’m curious as to whether they will actually use this time to talk to each other.
I enjoyed his memories. Happy to see these two are going to at least eat together and maybe make some progress! Great snippet…
A promising interaction. Who will make the next move?
I really wonder what’s running through her mind right now. She seems more at ease than he does.
That appears to be a sweet scene, but I don’t know Eastyn well enough yet to know if she’s setting him up for a let-down. 🙂 Great writing, Karen! 🙂
I wonder if she’s going down the same memory lane he is.
