Welcome to Snippet Sunday! I’ve decided to switch it up this week with a WIP called Two Worlds Collided. This is a time travel tale where an obsessed fan has a chance to save her beloved rock star from ending his life. Remember this is raw, unedited material. ๐

Now for Chapter One

Disappear

Emerson Violet Reid, the president of the Civilized Heathens fan club slid into the booth at the local coffee shop where two of her friends were already seated. The gala planned for the next week was coming along wonderfully. Tribute bands were auditioning for the live performance and Leon Green, the keyboard player of the original band confirmed he would make a special appearance.
This year marked the tenth anniversary of Bellamy Lovel’s death, the lead singer and songwriter of the band, who died too young, a tragic death where he took his own life. Millions mourned, still mourned for the vibrant and sometimes wild man who could light up the stage with just his presence, but add his sultry voice to the mix and he had the audience mesmerized.
“Hey, Evie,” Lisa the twenty-five, leggy blonde, greeted her. She lived at home with her parents, while she tried to figure out what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She’d enrolled in college for the third time with plans to stick it out this time around. In a huff or something her mother had said to her, Lisa tossed her long strands over her shoulder and it fell like a waterfall of silk.
Evie would love those straight strands to her unruly reddish brown tresses she kept knotted at the base of her neck.

I like the premise of this story, nice.
Thanks so much. I really excited about this project. ๐
Interesting story line …. look forward to more.
Thank you.
Interesting concept for a time travel tale! Enjoyed the snippet, left me wanting to know more for sure.
Veronica,
So glad you’re intrigued.
Sounds like a really cool idea for a story! I haven’t ever been obsessed with a band to that extent, though I could listen to The Killers on continuous loop forever.:-)
Christina,
Glad you like the idea for the story. I know what you mean about listing to a band’s songs over and over again and never getting tired of hearing it.
Of course everyone else in the car, or home want to burn the CD. lol
And you do time travel so well! Looking forward to it.
My favorite band? Kansas. My children knew their song lyrics. One time, my daughter wore one of my Kansas tee-shirts to school. Kids kept coming up to her and asking who it was. She thought they were afraid that there was a new band that they hadn’t heard of–and that they were out of the cool loop. lol.
Loved Kansas too. Leftoverture is a favorite album. That’s too funny about your daughter. lol
My daughter has found INXS’ music. Loved their music too.
Of all the reasons to go back and change the past, I never would’ve thought about saving a rock star. ๐
BTW, I forgot to add my snippet to the WeWriWa list, but itโs up and eager for readers.
Ed,
Perhaps she has a tie with young man or perhaps he has more songs to share with the world, or perhaps no one should feel so alone they want to end it all.
Story is still unfolding.
Fun concept. My husband’s brother was a rock promoter back in the day, and drives semis with equipment for superstars on tour today. The stories I’ve heard…
Elizabeth,
I bet he does have some ‘wild’ stories. ๐
Well done on an intriguing story. This snippet was an excellent intro. Can’t wait to read more.
Thanks, Kim.
I’m really digging this concept. Loved the intro into this story. Can’t wait to read more.
Cecilia,
Glad you can’t wait for more.
What a cool idea. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.
PT,
Thanks so much.
I LOVE the name of the fan club! Civilized Heathens. That is brilliant. This sounds like a very interesting tale and I look forward to more. Great descriptions.
And as for favorite bands and singers I can’t get enough of… Ohh… To put it nicely there are a few. LOL.
Daelyn,
So glad you liked the band’s name. ๐
