Meet the Band… Two Worlds Collided Two Worlds Collided #8sunday #snippetsunday

two-worlds-collided_newlook3Welcome to Snippet Sunday! This is a snippet from Two Worlds Collided.

LOOKING FOR last week’s SNIPPET from Chapter One: Snippet #11

Now for Chapter Two – Body Language

Evie made it back in time to 1997, accepted the job to be Bellamy’s assistant, and is at the hotel to meet the band. If you’ll recall from a previous snippet, it is mentioned that her brother Bryce and Clark are friends. Clark moved away the first year of High school so hasn’t seen Evie since then. Because of her frizzy unruly hair, Clark gave her the name, Cha-cha-cha Chia.

We’re skipping ahead a few paragraphs into the chapter. (A few creative spots here to make the 10 sentence limit)

*****************************************************************************************************************

Leon Green

The band consisted of Leon Green, five-foot-eight, stockier built than his brother, Maury Green, who stood a few inches taller. Both were blondes and both had big, light-brown eyes, though Maury had a dimple in his right cheek that winked when he smiled. Maury was the drummer and vocals. Leon was vocals, played the keyboards, percussions, and co-wrote most of the songs along with Bellamy Lovel.

T.C. Worth_Civilized HeathensT.C. Worth had red hair that he dyed black, baby blue eyes and freckles that no amount of stage make-up would ever cover. He was the bass player and backup vocals.

Clark Barrymore, the tallest of the band, stood five-eleven with natural dark brown hair and even darker eyes. He played the rhythm guitar, saxophone, and was the backing vocals. She knew it was too much to hope Clark would keep it quiet that he knew her. “Cha-cha-cha Chia, my how you’ve grown,” he voiced as he stood back to give her a once over, making her really want to smack the grin off his face.

*****************************************************************************************************************

Clark’s nickname probably isn’t something she’d like others to know, especially since she’s trying to make a good impression as a responsible woman hired to be Bellamy’s assistant. lolย  Do any of you have a nickname ? ๐Ÿ™‚ Any nickname you detested?

Blurb for Two Worlds Collided:

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel’s path of destruction. She’s smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy’s smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he’s destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn’t keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

  1. Heh, they all sound like characters. And in the last sentence “wanted” should be “want” the way it’s written. Great snippet, Karen. When does this one come out? I’m intrigued to read the whole thing.

  2. That’s probably not a nickname he’s going to let her outgrow! My parents still call me Chewy and Mrs. A-chew-y, since I sneezed a lot when I was a baby. When I’ve told some people about this nickname, they’ve assumed it’s short for Chewbacca, and don’t make the connection with sneezing.

  3. Nice to meet the band, and I love her nickname! My daddy called me Hot Shot and my husband calls me Toyce so that I fit in with all the “T’s” in our family. My youngest argued with her kindergarten teacher that my name was Toyce not Joyce. Enjoyed the snippet!

    1. Aurora,
lol- It’s the sing-song chant for a Chia pet. Popular item and quick to grow. Chia sprouts within a couple of weeks to resemble the animal’s fur or hair. ๐Ÿ™‚ Poor Evie. He’s teasing her about her hair, which she pulls back into a tight bun now to keep it tame.

  4. I never really hated any of my nicknames. About the only one anyone still uses is “P.T.” which was a play on “E.T. phone home” when I was in college. P.T. stands for Purple Tiger, Possibly (or Partially) Terrestrial, or Permanently Twisted, take your pick.

  5. Enjoyed meeting the band and they do all come across as very different guys, which is good. That nickname would certainly get annoying fast so I can see why she hates it. I would just caution that ad jingles are copyrighted, like song lyrics. Maybe you can work in the reference without using the actual jingle lyrics?

    1. Diane,
Sorry, you had a difficult time finding the snippet. I’ve always used the asterisks to separate the snippet from the rest of the post. Maybe the photos were too much. Thanks for letting me know.
I’m glad you did find it and enjoyed meeting the band. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I gotta admit, Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia is a pretty awesome and creative nickname. I love it, though I might hate being called it. I used to be called Crazy Lady when I was young because I was so full of energy. Friends liked to dub me the Energizer Bunny. LOL.

    1. When I was in my teens, I worked at Knott’s Berry Farm (amusement park), they called me ‘Little Spaz’- 5 foot 2 and full of energy. On my last day there, they had a cake for me with that name on it. lol
It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about that name. Met my husband there and we’ve been married for 31 years.
