LOOKING FOR last week’s SNIPPET from Chapter Two: Snippet #4
Now for Chapter Two – Body Language Snippet #5
In last weeks snippet, Evie and Leon are on the elevator, but Leon hasn’t pushed the button to a floor yet as he tells Evie about Bellamy’s condition. Evie asks Leon if there’s anything she should know about Bellamy besides keeping him on schedule.
There are some tweaks in punctuation. Leon is speaking first.
*****************************************************************************************************************
“He can be wild and fun, but he’s also vulnerable. He’s had a few bad relationships and he hasn’t been the same since he lost his father. I’ve known Bellamy for a long time and his smile doesn’t reach his eyes if you know what I mean.”
She did know what he meant, more so than Leon realized. “I’ll be a friend if he wants one.”
“Hmm…he may not be warm and cuddly about having you around. Just a warning, but I’m hoping you’ll be able to keep him on schedule. He’s notorious for forgetting where he’s supposed to be on a good day, and now…” he said and let out a tired sigh.
“Understood.”
Leon looked like he wanted to say more, but then turned and pushed the button on the panel and the elevator jerked into motion.
*****************************************************************************************************************
Bellamy has had some hard knocks lately. Good thing Evie is aware of most of them, but reading about it is one thing. Meeting the man who lived through the events is another. Sometimes being wild and fun is only a facade so no one sees the truth.
Blurb for Two Worlds Collided:
Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel’s path of destruction. She’s smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy’s smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he’s destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.
Bellamy isn’t keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

I really am feeling for Bellamy and hoping she can turn it around but am still worried what cost there will be for the future (changing history and all). Very intriguing story.
Chelle,
Of course things will change, but how much only time will tell. Will it be good things? Maybe.
She definitely has her work cut out for her. I’m curious to find out what happens when they first meet.
It will be interesting. 🙂
She might be in for a rough time if Bellamy resents her trying to keep him on schedule. Hope she can help him!
Christina,
He’s not going to be thrilled.
Sounds like she’ll have to stand on her head to help him. Karen, you are a wonder.
Charmaine,
She will have to stay strong. Bellamy isn’t going to welcome her with open arms. Her being there shouts there is something wrong with him. He might know he needs help, but he’s not ready to admit it, not even to himself.
Oh, I wish he’d said more. Great snippet, Karen.
Siobhan,
There will be more. 🙂
Great dialogue – you can read between the lines!
Aurora,
Thank you.
The elevator scene reminds me of NCIS, where secrets are told. Nice snippet. She’s going to have her work cut out for her.
Diane,
Never watched NCIS, but the elevator does seem like a great spot. lol What is said in the elevator stays in the elevator. lol
Great job characterizing him, and you set up their relationship perfectly as being a potential roller coaster ride! Looking forward to reading more.
Joyce,
Thanks so much. Glad you’re interested in reading more.
Being ‘kept on schedule’ is a bit like being ‘kept on a leash’.
Looking forward to the sparks, Karen!
Kim,
Love the analogy. Perfectly said.
Another excellent scene from this intriguing book. I like that his friend is so concerned about him. It must be hard for her, knowing what she knows about the ‘current’ future events!
Veronica,
Yes very trying for her.
I feel sorry for Leon. Sounds like he really cares about Bellamy and is hurting because he can’t help him.
P.T.,
Leon does care for Bellamy. They’ve been friends for a long time, but he doesn’t know how to help him.
You made me feel sorry for Bellamy. I hope he lets her be his friend.
Elaine,
I was hoping it came across that way. 🙂
You’ve done a good job of portraying the vulnerable man hidden behind the rock star facade.
Ed,
Thank you. 🙂
I’m just loving this story so much the more.
Cecilia,
I’m glad you’re enjoying the tale.
Everyone wears masks–but some people wear very convincing ones, and no one realizes it until it’s too late. At least she has an advantage to seeing through him.
Caitlin,
Exactly right.
Great snippet. I like this whole idea!
Hmm he sounds like a challenge. Can’t wait for their interactions!
I liked the info. about him losing his father. Should be exciting when they meet.
Couldn’t agree more on the façade line! Hit the nail on the head there. I think she’s going to be in for a roller coaster and a shock for how to actually handle him, and I wonder what else Leon wanted to say.
Wonder what he’s not saying. Interesting snippet
