Welcome to Snippet Sunday! I’ve decided to switch it up this week with a WIP called Two Worlds Collided.
This is a time travel tale where an obsessed fan has a chance to save her beloved rock star from ending his life. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll are a cocktail that is neither glamorous nor pretty for rock star, Bellamy Lovel, but in the dark of night when the shadows threaten to consume him, he finds the one shining light that may guide him home.
I’m finished with the story and is now in the hands of my editor. π Can’t believe how fast I wrote this one, but the characters just spoke to me.
Remember this is still unedited material. π
LOOKING FOR last week’s SNIPPET: Snippet #4
Now for Chapter One, #5 snippet
Los Angeles, 2007
Disappear
This is in Evie’s POV. Evie’s connection to Bellamy is she’d been asked to be his assistant prior to the official date the band would go on tour, but she didn’t accept the position. Kelsey wants to send her back in time to that moment for her to say she will take the job. We’re jumping ahead a few paragraphs. Kelsey is speaking to Lisa in the first line.
****************************************************************************************************************
“I need you to stand on the other side of the circle and clasp my hands.”
“Why?”
“It’s to keep the magic contained and it’s stronger when there is more than one person’s energy propelling the magic.”
Lisa made a big production about complying, but she reached out her hands and Kelsey clasped them. Evie stood in the center of their clasped hands like they were going to play a game of London Bridges Falling Down. The nursery rhyme seemed almost fitting, but she wouldn’t be repairing a bridge, but a life, making it stronger in hopes that despair didn’t weaken the mind where irrational decisions lay in wait to destroy. Evie stood nose to nose with the cardboard cutout of Lovel. It seemed creepy to be staring into those baby blue eyes and smiling face when she was about to take on a mission to save him from killing himself.
“If you zap us to oblivion, I’m going to be so mad at you,” Lisa grumbled.
Kelsey ignored her and began the spell, “Send Emerson Violet Reid back before Bellamy Kendrick Lovel drew his last breath.”
*****************************************************************************************************************
As the spell takes on a life of its own, we’ll see if Kelsey can really send Evie back in time.
Possible blurb for Two Worlds Collided:
Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel’s path of destruction. She’s smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy’s smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he’s destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.
Bellamy isn’t keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

Uh huh. Zapped to oblivion deserves an angry response!
I like the premise of this tale, Karen. π
Teresa,
lol- it sure does.
Oh my, so not without danger when futzing with time. Great snippet, Karen, and sounds like a very intriguing tale. π
Siobhan,
So glad you’re intrigued. π
Neat, I want to know how this will turn out!
Amy,
Glad you’re intrigued. π
Love it! Can’t wait to see where this story goes.
Christina,
Thanks so much.
Just a fascinating story. I wonder what will happen when she does meet this guy in the past! Great snippet…
Veronica,
Thank you so much. Stay tune.
I see you’re positing magic as your means of time travel. Interesting choice.
Ed,
Just trying to change it up. Of course with magic, it’s only a temporary time travel. Can’t stay in the past. π
Ooh, I like the sound of this. So much fun to be had with time-travel – provided, of course, that nobody gets zapped to oblivion in the process!
Karen,
Being zapped would put a damper on time travel. lol
Fascinating premise – of course if the time travel does work would it really only be temporary as the world she would be trying to return to would be changed if she succeeds in changing history? Curious to find out what happens.
Being zapped would definitely be a buzzkill on a time travel mission!
Interesting snippet … wonder what will happen next.
A time spell. Interesting. Good snippet.
The spell isn’t very specific. I hope she goes back far enough to make a difference.
I like your play on time travel rules. Great premise for a story!
*Snickers* I like Lisa’s grumble. The London Bridges Falling Down reference was a nice touch. This story is really catching my attention.
Daelyn,
I’m so glad you liked the ‘The London Bridges Falling Down’ reference. π
I am so excited to read more of this…such a great concept.
