Established as part of Father Junipero Serra’s Mission Trail in the late 1700s, the Santa Margarita Ranch is one of the oldest operated cattle ranches in California. While we drove to our first zipline destination, Colin, our driver, entertained us the history of the place.
We had to gear up for our flying adventure with gloves, helmets, and straps. The staff was friendly and made you feel safe as they strapped us onto the lines. For me, the first jump was a bit scary since I was volunteering to jump off a cliff to fly over a 2,800-foot valley crossing! Yikes!
You know that old saying: Will you jump off a cliff if your friends do? I guess my answer is yes. 🙂 Well, yes if I’m strapped securely to a cable. lol

Ziplining across the historic Santa Margarita Ranch in the Paso Robles wine country was an experience I won’t soon forget. After the first jump, the other five were a breeze. Beautiful oak trees and wildflowers adorned the path as we hiked to each of the ziplines. The last jump was an 1800-foot zip across the vineyard.
Later, we enjoyed the fine Ancient Peaks wines, along with the cheese and charcuterie. The Margarita Vineyard started in 1999. It produces estate-grown wines and grapes from the vineyard, which are both sold to notable wineries in Paso Robles region.
What a day to remember!
